Xiahou Dun
With version 16.0 older cards are receiving a buff, Xiahou Dun is one of them. The first buff is a change to the active skill giving self attack 2.5x while the active is up, the active is a semi enchantress effect that stays in play until dissolving all 5 attributes in the first batch. The other buff is a change in the leader skill tgat might not look like much going from 1.5x to 1.8x, just a 0.3 increase but it goes for both leader and ally which brings the max multiplier up from 54x to 77.76x which is comparable to switched Gon-Killua's 81x, better than Yusuke's 56.25x and Hiei's 40.96 for demons.. but those teams have defensive parts in the leader skills which Xiahou Dun doesn't have.
Moving on, this is still part speculation because we can't play it yet so let's go over what we know:

Single-eyed Vanguard - Xiahou Dun [Image: 100?cb=20180122110234]

Leader Skill:
When the Team consists of only Fire, Earth and Dark Monsters, Team Attack x 4; by dissolving 9 or more Fire, Earth or Dark Runestones in total in one Round, Team Attack x 1.8 additionally.
-Requires at least one of each attribute.
-16x base multiplier, 51.84x when dissolving any combination of fire/earth/dark runes adding 9  or more.
-Second part looks hard to achieve regurarly but the team skill trivializes it.

Active Skill:
When the enemy attacks, Humans and Demons will launch an extra attack of its own Attribute as much as 50% of the its own Attack next Round. The effect stays in play until Runestones of 5 Attributes are dissolved (only the first batch of Runestones dissolved will be counted).
Buffs add self attack 2.5x

-The un buffed part is meh because you don't want to get hit or let the enemy attack most of the time.
-The buff is pretty nice but I will withhold further comments until it's in game and I can test it.

Team Skill:
9 fixed positions will be locked every Round. If all Runestones at fixed positions are dissolved, Team Attack x1.5 additionally; turn Runestones at fixed positions into 3 Fire, 3 Earth and 3 Dark Runestones at the end of that Round (only the 1st batch of Runestones dissolved will be counted).Condition: Both the leader and ally are Single-eyed Vanguard - Xiahou Dun.

-The locked runes are always in the top right side of the screen.
-The converted runes will always make 3 combos either as three columns or three rows, once fulfilled it keeps going unless disturbed.
-For that reason it fulfills dissolving 9+ FED runes and gives max multiplier.
-The 1.5x from the passive brings the max multiplier to 77.76x.
-A few enemy skills like vortex or don't dissolve specific attribute can counter this awesome passive.

Pros and Cons:
+The team skill guarantees attacking runes and max multiplier once it gets going.
+Team skill simplifies the board similarly to Izanagi.
-Enemy skills can disrupt the passive stopping the fun and easy style.
-Requires three attributes in the team but doesn't have an attribute sharing effect making the damage between members inconsistent.
+The active works only with demons and humans but the team can use ANY fire or earth or dark monster so around 3/5 of all cards.
+Huge pool member means the team has access to lots of options for utility to cover holes in the team.
-Passive conversion can take away hearts needed to heal or water/light attribute runes for enemy skills.

General gameplan:
Stall if you need to then get the marked runes done to start the ball rolling. Once it starts keep it going by don't touching that square of the board unless an enemy skill forces you to touch them. By ignoring the marked runes you can concentrate on the rest of the board and making more combos.
The damage can be a little inconsistent between attributes but as we see later on this can be solved by having one or two self boosting members that do most of the damage with one or two members boosting them and the rest for utility.

Some notable members (I'm not listing and rating 3/5 of all cards):

[Image: latest?cb=20180308194740]Lullaby of Love - Ubume ★★★★★

Ubume was pretty much designed for Xiahou Dun and Yog (not much later pr Yog was released). The 2.2x for humans and demons brings the multiplier to 171.072x for humans and demons which will go well with the self attack 2.5x from XHD active, bringing XHD to 427.68x (pr Yog would be 855.36x). When having 3+ attributes in the team, which XHD will fullfill, the active gains a 30% damage reduction effect that brings some much needed survivavility to the team.

[Image: 100?cb=20180404164811]Omniscient Dominator - Yog-Sothoth ★★★★★
Yog-Sothoth is extremly good so there's not much to add, the first active works wonders in a three attribute team like this and the self attack active i'ts easy to get to full potential just by the leader or ally active skill so that frees spots for other members. I will add that by using Ubume Smidolon is not that needed (except for the much better hp of Smidolon) because it's the difference between 855.36x with Ubume to 972x with Smidolon both overkill most of the time but Ubume brings one XHD to 427.68x. Of course theres always the option of using both for a ridiculous 2138.4x with 30% damage reduction but it sacrificies utility.

[Image: latest?cb=20171204094002]Dream Gobbler - Ghroth ★★★★★
One of the contestant for the most powerful active in the game, use it for damage or healing or shields or whatever the game throws at you. Rarely is Ghroth a bad active to use the biggest downside is that Ghroth hp leaves to be desired.

[Image: latest?cb=20180122110232]Sympathetic Sorcerer - Lu Xun ★★★

When the square keeps going Lu Xun damage reduction is a base of 18.75% which is pretty nice but there are better options, it only counts the first batch and the cd doesn't decrease while the active is up. To equal Ubume's Lu Xun needs 5 runes (easy to do) and for Shyplant 50% he needs 8 runes (a bit more unlikely unless you bring a converter).

[Image: latest?cb=20171026154010]Will of the Shriveling - Shyplant ★★★

There are quite a few advantages to Shyplant but sadly it doesn't shine too much in this team. Unless you bring a few elves for the ride it is safe to consider it a team attack 1.5x so the shielding is the important part.  Uncoditional 50% shield is excellent so you bring her for that most of the time. Well and the part that because it isn't a continous effect it can't be cleared or reset.

[Image: latest?cb=20160125130250]Regretful Vixen Su Daji or [Image: latest?cb=20160125130251]Benevolent Xian Vixen - Su Daji with [Image: 120?cb=20180218152726]Necrofan dragonware ★★★

Yes, it is a luxury member but Daji with her dragon ware brings a passive +1 second spin time and her active is a time tunnel with damage boost (plus a 1.5x for dark from the dragonware). The fact that 9 runes don't require touching maxes dissolving the board much easier and the time tunnel effect can be used to dissolve the square if push comes to shove.
Generally Benevolent Xian Vixen - Su Daji (divergent form or nvr) is better because the cd is shorter and 10 seconds should be enough for most enemy skills but Regretful Vixen - Su Daji is a better booster for 7 extra cd (with the dragon ware you can use nvr Daji active twice in the time it takes to use ovr Daji active once).

[Image: latest?cb=20180127091221]Rhythm of Blazing Flames - Yan ★★★

Doing for combos in this team is easy, there's no downside to using her so get that free team attack 2x and deactivating her gives hearts for healing so probably the best enchantress that you can put in this team.

[Image: latest?cb=20151117182241]Scourge of Transfiguration - Circe ★★★
As awesome as Circe is the damage depends on combos breaking the equivalent of 2x at 8 combos which even with a simplified board like XHD it is still not always achievable. Plus she makes damage reduction effects stop working while she is active.

[Image: latest?cb=20151117182241]Sin Atoner - Medea ★★★
Medea is good but the increased damage is part of the reason why Yan is better. The increased drop rate of fire runes is not as good in a tri color team like this unless you are centering your damage in a fire member like Yog.

[Image: latest?cb=20180122110321]Simple-minded Gentry - Meng Huo ★★★
Probably the best converter outside of Yog for this team, the active will make the board be only Fire, Earth and Dark plus all runes will have the effect of fire so have fun!

[Image: latest?cb=20170911194223]Final Impact - Yashiro Nanakase ★★★
Personally I really like Yashiro's skill, doubling the first batch of combos is excellent because it affects both attack and healing. XHD guarantees three combos so that's a base of six combos every turn! Do take care that doing 8 combos in the first batch will deactivate Yashiro's active.

[Image: latest?cb=20170911194125]Psychic School Girl - Athena Asamiya ★★★

A decent multi turn (4 turns, cd 8) slight human booster (1.3x) with a nice shield (30%) she could be better but can be usefull for the shield

[Image: latest?cb=20170911194124]Inheritor of Ninjutsu - Mai Shiranui ★★★
The other possible best converter outside of Yog for XHD, she makes 6 each of fire, earth, dark and heart but when craft it's full she leaves them nicely pre-arranged for a 10 combo board but no craft that turn all at the same cd of Meng Huo.

[Image: latest?cb=20170911194124]Crescent of Tainted Flame - Iori Yagami ★★★

The active doesn't work so well with the team but the attack and defense of the enemy becoming 0 for a turn is extremely useful! Plus if the enemy attacks you get extra attacks from XHD active!

[Image: latest?cb=20170911194123]Kim the King of Taekwondo ★★★

Breaks 20 hit shields and increases the damage of humans but the lack of attribute sharing from XHD takes away from that benefit.

[Image: latest?cb=20171023085934]Poker King - Paxton with [Image: latest?cb=20171117151340]Poker Queen - Judith and [Image: latest?cb=20171102143501]Poker Knight - Ogier ¿?

This trio give the effect of one attribute for a tunr (in order dark posses fire, earth posses dark, fire posses earth), another effect  and then gives cd-5 to another one (Paxton to Judith, Judith to Ogier, Ogier to Paxton) so at max cd you can use one of them each turn.
I'm going to quote Oriceles from the comments in the wiki page of Ogier:
Quote:Xiahou Dun leader can be replaced with Lancelot/Tristan/Gareth, and dupe Ogier can be replaced with Ubume, by having 2 Ogier you can get extra x4 and refresh Paxton CD, then Refresh Judith CD and so on. Since Xiahou Dun gets fixed FED runes every round is the ideal leader for this team. Also remember the teamskill, by having the 3 poker trio in your team you get +900 atk on this members. The HP might be too low so for anyone complaining about it you can always swap one of the dupes I recommeded for Odin/Khaos/Diablo or any other FED tank.

[Image: latest?cb=20140622092408][Image: latest?cb=20140622092413][Image: latest?cb=20140622092423] Power Releasd Protagonists ★★★
The only reason they are 4★ is because of the low stats, protagonists are always useful to have. The slight increase in damage of their attribute means Sean (with Yog) or Endor (for XHD) might be slightly better thanb Duncan.

[Image: latest?cb=20170119122808]Authoress Katherin ★★★
She is the sixth protagonists that changes attribute to match that of the leader, realitvely easy to farm with two extra seconds rune moving time in the active skill and one less cd (unless that protagonist has equipped the corresponding dragonware). No slight increase in her attribute damage though.

[Image: latest?cb=20160505101916]Lord of All Gods - Khaos ★★★
Like the protagonists but with higgher stats and 15 seconds time tunnel to go with the three extra rows of enchanted runes, yep other than the team cost and the difficult stage to get him he is an excellent choice.

[Image: latest?cb=20180720125807]Wits of Unicorn - Haza ★★★
The most usefull part is the dodge in the second active and the attribute sharing can be usefull if you have beasts of fire or dark so a situational member.

[Image: latest?cb=20150705131635]Taurus of Berserker - Armstrong ★★★

With the right members (those with continuos effects like Yog, Smidolon, Paperwhite, Ubume, etc) he can be a really nice buff to have going plus theres that cheat death once from the AR.

[Image: latest?cb=20150705131635]Gemini of Recall - Castor & Pollux ★★★

You can make a team work with Pollux but there are better options specially because he can be difficult to charge. On the other hand the self boost and heart conversion are excellent just please put him in the second or third spot to not mess with the box when using the active.

[Image: latest?cb=20150705131638]Scorpio of Agility - Alma ★★★

The condition is easy to fullfill and her active helps bothe her and XHD. I would recomend the second spot in the team as her placement to don't have the case of the converted dark runes touching the dark runes of the box and loosing out on a combo.

[Image: latest?cb=20150705131639]Sagittarius of Frankness - Red Boy ★★★

The team already dissolves 3 types of runes so it is easy to get the -2 cd from AR. Not the best nor the worst but a fun member to duplicate boosted XHD or Yog attacks.

[Image: latest?cb=20180208114525]Spider Demon the Silk Cave Mistress ★★★

Increases the damage of XHD and can increase her damage against human, beast and gods. Plus converting an enemy to light removes elemental disadvantages so a little swiss army knife skill for the team. Also her damage can be boosted by Ubume.

[Image: latest?cb=20180308194739]Mech Smilodon sitational

Put right after pr Yog for tons of damage! Other than that maybe if you have a high attack fire member, else he is not that usefull here (Kyo is not that good because guaranteeing 6+ fire runes is hard).

[Image: latest?cb=20180411111653]Scheming Seduction - White Faced Vixen ★★★

Time tunnel  for 2 turns at cd 7 is good, the heart elf runes part will be not useless almost always. Just remember that the time tunnel is the same as the rune moving time you have in that round (so affected by time reduction enemy skills).

[Image: latest?cb=20180528095634]Biscuit ★★★

If you need a short cd heart converter she is the go to option, cd 4 for at least 6 heart runes (4 from the skill and at least 2 more from leader and ally), switching is a damage boost for a turn and her second active aftyer switching is a self damage boost of 6x.

[Image: latest?cb=20160108085351]Agatha ★★★

Old collab card that synchronices attribvute with the leader if it is human, the active is cd 3 makes 3 enchanted hearts and may be ready for activation immediately. Sadly Biscuit is better because after switched her active can be used up to three times and makes more hearts.

[Image: latest?cb=20180528095635]Gon ★★★

Swiss army knife active, plus full board conversion on switching and ridiculous burst with the second active after switching that benefit from all the other mentioned damage boosters except Smidolon. Though I don't like that the second active messes with the marked runes.

[Image: latest?cb=20180528095637]Killua ★★★

Another swiss army knife that is a short cd converter of 4 heart runes to dark, dodge the first attack of the enemy when switching (triggering XHD active next turn!) and the second active after switching orders the dark runes and adds +5 combos (it messes with the marked runes though).

[Image: latest?cb=20161201113221]Furi the Youkai of Whirlwind ★★★

The reason for adding Furi is for the earth equal all attributes part helping the team damage because the other parts are not that great for this team. The active will stay up easily but it takes two buff slots (3 with XHD, 4 with Yog).

[Image: latest?cb=20180104102651]Bonds of Elements - Tawil ★★★

Following the self boost trend but with an extra attack too! Easy to maintain the active she is a nice little addition for the team.

[Image: latest?cb=20171109113622]Rooted Solicitude - Welwitschia ★★★

There are not that many monsters with <1500 so he is mostly for the extra dark attack, it's simple but useful and fun.

[Image: latest?cb=20180222110416]Scheming Usurper - Dong Zhuo ★★★

In the right conditions (most likely after an effect reset) he can bring a lot of burst to the team.

[Image: latest?cb=20151125195652]Twisted Morals - Qiongqi ★★★

Don't overlook this tiger, he is a cd 6 enchanter of fire, earth, dark runes and adds damage on top of that so tiger here is extremely useful.

[Image: latest?cb=20170523210039]Knight of Swordmaster - Lancelot ★★★

Continuing the trend of self boosting, here is another good member that not only has more self boost than Yog (except for the two turns of increasing the boost) the active makes attack runes and with the team passive conversion he should be easy to keep going.

[Image: latest?cb=20151209130422]Rider Knap the Youth Devourer ★★★

Turn water to dark, dark have 50% the effect of heart runes help with healing and attacking but the real use is to bring the team hp up if you have two other demons like with Ubume and Yog.

[Image: latest?cb=20170706150442]Nocturnal Brilliance ‧ Shakuro ★★★

Easy to keep going and helps to heal, the only downside is the cd not dropping while the ffects lasts.

[Image: latest?cb=20180330083115]Hel the Morale of All ★★★

The active helps with healing but the god runes part is not that useful and Hel not attacking is damage lost.

[Image: latest?cb=20180322101951]Infinite Dreamlands - Sandman
Sandman is for those situations where the enemy has a self killing shield but it could be also used to stall in reaaaalllllyyyyyyyy specific situations.

... Quite a lot of self boosting members actually but I think that list should cover a lot situations

Xiahou Dun has access to a huge amount of members and a few of them cover similar niches or effects so building an effective team should be a little easier than a few meta teams currently going strong. Also focusing on boosting the leader or ally damage should be a viable strategy (will comment more on this after the buff is out and I can test it).

Another 2 good cards that are good to mention here are Zhurong because of her Low CD nuke, and Chizuru from Kof because she targets light and water and making heart runes have the effect of FED, so she works quite nice to deal against %heart shields or recover quickly if needed.

I was going to add Chizuru but forgot about doing it. Chizuru also gives the effect of all attributes for a turn so she can also be used to burst.

Yep, I also forgot to mention about Chrollo giving everyone attribute advantage and full effect of shared runestones.
Khaos and 8* seal lord have 1.3 all stat team skill.
For ppl have enough tc can try to put 1 or 2 seal lord with khaos.
Suggested seal lord team.
Xhd, pr yog, vr odin, khaos, shyplant/utility earth card, xhd
The new update means you can activate multiple XHD at the same time, I think.

That is a nice way of raising the team hp, team cost though will be too high for most players.

Will try it after the patch but if that means having the 2.5x self boost on both leader and ally then Ubume will be even better in the team.
