[Guide] How Race Rune Works

Most of the information of this guide comes from this thread, but they are spread around in multiple posts so I decide to compile into 1 single thread for clearer explanation.


OLD DAMAGE FORMULA


First of all, let us revise the existing damage formula. In short, it can be expressed as the following equation:

Damage (As displayed on card picture) = Base ATK * Rune Factor * Combo Factor * Skill Factor

For this guide, our main focus will only be the rune factor so we will not talk about other components in damage formula.


OLD RUNE FACTOR FORMULA


Original formula for Rune Factor is

Rune Factor = (N + G) * 0.25 + E * Enchanted Bonus

N = Number of runes (of monster's attribute) dissolved.
G = Number of groups of dissolve for the above runes.
E = Number of rune above which is enchanted.
Enchanted Bonus is by default 0.15 (though there are some skill that can modify it).


NEW RUNE FACTOR FORMULA


With race runes added, the new formula is

Rune Factor = (N + G) * 0.25 + E * Enchanted Bonus + R * Race Bonus

N = Number of runes (of monster's attribute) dissolved.
G = Number of groups of dissolve for the above runes.
E = Number of rune above which is enchanted.
Enchanted Bonus is by default 0.15 (though there are some skill that can modify it).
R = Number of rune above which has the same race of the monster.
Default value of Race Bonus is 0.3 which is double of enchanted bonus. (There is no skill that modify race bonus as of V13.1 but may be introduced in the future)


EXTRA NOTES


Here are some notes about race runes:
1) Race bonus only applies if and only if the monster have exactly the same race and attribute as the rune. For example, dissolving a Fire God rune will only gives race bonus to Fire Gods.
2) Race bonus will not carry over by effect sharing (Like Giemsa's active, LD = self attribute) unlike enchanted bonus, so dissolving Dark enchanted God rune with Hades' second active (Dark = 50% other attribute) will only gives runes factor to non-dark god card without race bonus and only Dark God can receive race bonus from it.
3) MH promotes race rune as double the effect of enchanted rune but in reality, it means the default value of race bonus is double that of enchanted bonus, dissolving 1 race rune is not as effective as dissolving 2 enchanted rune.
4) Race bonus and enchanted bonus are 2 independent parameters. In cases like Norse team skill or Qiong Qi's active, increasing enchanted bonus will not affect race bonus.


WORKED EXAMPLES


1) Dissolving a set of 3 Fire runes in which all of them are God runes and enchanted.
a) Nezha (Fire Human)
Since the race does not match, race bonus does not apply.
Rune factor = (3+1) * 0.25 + 3 * 0.15 = 1.45

b) Amaterasu (Fire God)
Since both race and attribute match, race bonus does apply.
Rune factor = (3+1) * 0.25 + 3 * 0.15 + 3 * 0.3= 2.35

c) Hades (Dark God)
Race bonus will not apply as the attributes do not match. In fact, Hades will not attack if there is no Dark runes dissolve or effect sharing skill.

2) Dissolve a full board Fire God runes in Amaterasu team. Take note that in dual Amaterasu team, Fire have 100% effect of other runes.
a) Amaterasu (Fire God)
Rune factor = (30 + 1) * 0.25 + 30 * 0.15 + 30 * 0.3= 21.25

b) Hades (Dark God)
Since the attribute does not match, rune factor will carry over without race bonus.
Rune factor = (30 + 1) * 0.25 + 30 * 0.15 = 12.25

one of the fixed issue
The God Race Runestones generated by the active skill of “Sunlight of Hyuga – Amaterasu”, “Mighty Eight Hand Mirror”, can only increase the attack of Fire Gods. The Gods of other attributes cannot enjoy the effect of God Runestones.

does it mean God runes now give bonus to all God members?
i dun hav Amaterasu. and they fix it after the seal is gone? Smile
