Are you one of them...?

Is it a yes..? Or is it a no? No matter. The fact that you've clicked in here proves that you're one of the chosen one.

Greetings to all ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls. I go by the forum nick; Crux. As most of you have already knew, Paladino has since retired from updating his amazing mono Water guide. I have been given the pleasure & blessings by Paladino himself to continue his legacy. The main reason for this decision is because of one simple reason; my love for Water itself. I aim to continue spreading the  Heart  for water.

I pledge to do my very best in creating an informative yet easily understood contents for the access of all forumers/guests to the forum!

Analysis of card
  • In this section, I will be analysing almost every single cards, giving my thoughts/opinions on them.

How to read Azurepedia efficiently and smartly?

1) Use the shortcut [CTRL+F] for easier navigation to the cards that you are looking for.

2) e.g. Role(s) played in a team: Leader[✓]  Converter[~]  Damage Multiplier [X]  Utility[X]

A '✓' will indicate that it is suitable, while a '~' will tell you that it is plausible but definitely not the best choice wheras 'X' is a no-no for that particular role.

To see what role(s) that a card play in the team, look for ^ at the end. In this case, leader is ticked so the particular card is most suitable to be played as the leader. There can also be cases where a single card plays more than 1 role in a team.

3) e.g. Verdict: Everybody's all time favourite pick as the leader. Highly recommended!

The verdict of a card is based on their role played in the team.

Freyr the Immortal Warrior

  • Active skill: Turn all Water Runestones into Enchanted Water Runestones
Not exactly the most impressive active skill out there. However when Odin/PR Odin is present, they gain a linked skill.

  • Leader skill: Water Attack x 2.5
The multiplier is pretty much of the norm and what you'd expect from most of the leaders presently. Multiplier increased to x3.0 when PR Odin is present in the team and your ally is another PR Freyr.

Role(s) played in a team: Leader[✓]  Converter[X]  Damage Multiplier [X]  Utility[X]

Verdict: Everybody's all time favourite pick as the leader. Highly recommended!

Gory Aristocrat Elizabeth
  • Active Skill: Team Attack x 1.5. The no. of enemies defeated in the Round of activation becomes the number of Round the Skill stays in play (enemies defeated by Active Skills excluded)

Not a very big boost but well it's better than nothing. It can also be carried on to the next wave of the battle depending on how many mobs you eliminated that round itself once you activated this skill.

  • Leader Skill: Every time Water Runestones are dissolved, Water Attack increases. If no Water Runestones are dissolved for 2 consecutive Rounds, Attack decreases. When Attack reaches the max x 3.5, Attack decreases if no Water Runestones are dissolved for 1 Round
Sole leader that boasts the highest multiplier for mono Water, period. She's of the Demon race meaning your overall team HP will suffer somehow. In exchange, you are granted higher than average overall attack stats befitting the title of a 'Glass cannon' team.

Tefnut the Decent God of Drizzles

  • Active Skill: Explode all non-Water Runestones to deal a Water Damage to all enemies
Sorta like a converter since it wipes off all non-Water runes, creating more chances for Water runes to drop. However, definitely not recommended as a converter if you are planning to use her for that purpose. It is also a useful active to deal with masked runes/weathered runes.
  • Leader Skill:Greatly increase Water Damage dealt on Fire and Dark enemies, while that on enemies of other Attributes will also increase (including Active Skills).

Very explicitly stated but it is actually a 3.5x/1.5x multiplier to Fire/Dark enemies and the remaining attributes respectively.

Previously was a shitty card. Was ,yep. Since the release of Cyborg Companions, a totally new nuking playstyle was introduced and this card's leader skill is the key to pull it off.

Verdict: Not very conventional so I'm slightly reserved. Nevertheless, still a great leader.

Poseidon, God of the Sea

Ever wondered why there's a chunk of runes of the same colour dropping and dropping again in succession either from gameplay videos or when your friends are playing? This card's the one responsible for this.

  • Active Skill: Water Damage dealt to enemies continues to increase until no Water Damage is dealt
This skill makes a marking on the enemies, meaning it does not carry over/disappears once the enemy is eliminated. The multiplier will gradually increase if you managed to dissolve Water runes/deal damage every turn. It caps after 4-5 turns( not very sure, I'll get back to you on this)

  • Leader Skill: For every 3 Water Runestones dissolved, 1 Enchanted Water Runestone will be generated
So, when allied with another Poseidon, the leader skill actually stacks so instead of 1 Enchanted runes generated per 3 runes dissolved, you are actually getting 2 instead. However, Poseidon's leader skill has no multiplier, you are going to strongly rely on the amount of combos made to deal higher damage.

Very luck reliant when one plays a Poseidon team. Despite not having a PR form, Poseidon-lead teams are still one of the main forces to be reckoned. EXP curve is also much lower compared to the other big guns(2.5m to be exact).

Role(s) played in a team: Leader[✓]  Converter[X]  Damage Multiplier [-]  Utility[X]

Source: Diamond seal.

Verdict: Yet another very mainstream leader, thumbs up(Y).

Conjurer of Billows - DAESUNG

Daesung, one of the member of Korean's singing band Big Bang has joined the ToS realm!

  • Active Skill: Turn 3 random Runestones into Enchanted Water Runestones (Heart Runestones rank first in priority). The Skill may be ready for reactivation immediately
An alternative to Pisces. His active is unreliable no doubt, but definitely not underwhelming. The procs of reactivating is actually not that low and is quite decent - if you do not count on him reactivating every single time.
  • Leader Skill: Water Attack x 2. Heart Runestones also possess 50% effect of Water Runestones (No superimposing)
Heart runes can now also be used as attacking runes albeit half the attacking power. 2.5x multiplier if one dissolves both Water and Heart runes in a turn, otherwise only 2x.

Daesung's leader skill and active skill contradicts each other. The former utilises Heart runes and the former converts away Heart runes(if there is any). Wow.

Role(s) played in a team: Leader[✓]  Converter[✓]  Damage Multiplier [X]  Utility[X]

Source: Dazzle of the Star- Water

Verdict: Definitely not your end-game leader. He's still a very decent leader/converter nonetheless
★★★ and 1/2

Wen Zhong the Mercy Revealer

Mercy, mercy, pleaseee !

  • Active Skill: For 3 Rounds, transfer Drop Rate of Heart Runestones into that of Water Runestones
]
Works like a charm in Poseidon team, more runes=more combos=more damage. You can also see it as a double-edged sword active as you won't be able to heal once this active is activated.

  • Leader Skill: The Team must contain Water and Light Monsters. By dissolving Runestones of any 3 Attributes in the same Round, Water & Light Attack x 2.5. If Heart Runestones are also dissolved, there will be a 50% chance of gaining an extra of x 1.5 (the probability can be summed up)
A very outclassed leader skill, mainly now with Syu Syiao-Syue. Even before, he too wasn't being played as a leader as much. Furthermore, Light cards and Water cards do not have great synergies and you'll most likely stuck to allying Jiang Zi Ya.

Role(s) played in a team: Leader[✓]  Converter[X]  Damage Multiplier [X]  Utility[✓]

Verdict: More of a utility over a leader type of card.

Aquarius of Fantasy - Carrie
  • Active Skill: For 1 Round, no Damage will be dealt to all enemies. Team Attack x 2 in the next Round.
Like many, a 2.0x multiplier but one will not be able to attack for the 1st turn after activation. After amelioration, it is increased by a measly 0.2 and is now a 2.2x multiplier.
  • Leader Skill: Water Attack x 2.5; Recovery x 1.5
Post PR, an expected 0.5 buff was added to the existing 2x multiplier. With a team skill paired with another PR Carrie as the ally, duo Carrie's are bound to shine once more.

Princess of Icicle -Yuki-onna

  • Active Skill: Turn all Fire Runestones into Enchanted Heart Runestones
A first Enchanted Heart converter for Water.

  • Leader Skill: Water Attack x 2.5. Demon Recovery x 2
Possess a similar multiplier as PR Freyr, in addition with multiplying the recovery of the Demons in your team by 2x. Pretty sweet, despite her face  Tongue ! Downside is to achieve an ideal recovery stats, you will be forced to slot in as many Demons in the team. Naturally, the team

Douman Ashiya, Onmyōji of Douma

  • Active Skill: For 1 Round, the Monster's Attack x 2.5. If the neighbouring members are also Water Attribute or Demon, the effect would be shared with them
Take note, this buff only applies to himself and neighbouring members, not the whole team. Best to place hi, near your highest attack stats Water/Demon cards.

  • Leader Skill: Water Attack x 2.5. When HP is lower than 50%, effects of Heart Runestones x 3 (no superimposing)
Not too excited with the recovery capabilities with Yuki-onna? Wait till you see this. When your HP dips below half, Heart runes have their effects amplify by 3x. In other words, a set of Heart runes= 3 set of Heart runes.

No idea what was on MH's mind though when they chose to release such an OP card(effectively stealing the limelight of (Yuki-onna) as a SM card(not that it's a bad thing)

Stone of Origin- Syu Syiao-Syue

  • Active Skill: Turn 3 Runestones into Water Runestones (Light and Dark Runestones rank in first priority). For each Human, turn extra 2 Runestones into Water Runestones.
A very one of its kind converter that priorities Light and Dark runes unlike the rest. Very synergistic with duo Elizabeth that takes advantage of Fire/Water/Heart runes for the team passive. The no. of runes that she can convert is very flexible in the sense that you can just adjust the no. Human(s) in the team accordingly.

  • Leader Skill: The Team must contain only Water, Fire and Earth Monsters. By dissolving Runestones of any 3 Attributes in the same Round, Team Attack x 3. If Heart Runestones are also dissolved, there will be a 50% chance of gaining an extra of x 1.5 (the probability can be summed up)

Pisces of Empathy - Cateua & Ravniss
  • Active Skill: Randomly turn Runestones as much as the accumulated Rounds (dissolving Runestones is necessary) +1 into Water Runestones, to the max 8 Runestones. If the Skill is activated when accumulation reaches the max, the Runestones will be turned into Enchanted Water Runestones. The number of Runestones to be converted will reset after activation
Easily the best converter although this is one of the oldest card. Let me give you an example of how this works; let’s say you have a max SLV-ed Pisces (CD2). You enter a battle, activate it after 2 turns and Pisces will yield you with 3 runes. If you chose not to activate her, she will ‘store’ runes. The idea is the accumulated turn+1, to the max of 8 runes. In other words, after 7 turns Pisces do not store any more runes.

Post PR, when the accumulated runes converted reaches 8(max), the runes will be Enchanted. I was expecting it to be a full-time Enchanted converter because one uses Pisces because of her quick converting capabilities.. but nevertheless it is still a decent upgrade.

  • Leader Skill: Team Attack x 2; Water and Fire Damage received -50%; Light Damage received -30%.
With an increment of 0.5x to the team multiplier, Pisces is actually a pretty viable leader when paired with Daji as the ally. Also, Light damage received is now reduced by 30%, a nice touch.

Qinglong the Prime King

  • Active Skill: Turn all Heart Runestones into Water Runestones
Your typical offensive converter. Post- max amelioration, Qinglong converts the entire column of runes underneath him into Water.

  • Leader Skill: For each Dragon in the Team, Attack +200; Dragon Attack x 2.5
More geared towards Dragons than Water in general.

Ao Guang the Lord of Dragon

  • Active Skill: Turn Fire and Heart Runestones into Water Runestones; Earth Runestones into Heart Runestones.
Converts an amazing chunk of Water runes + Heart runes allowing one to attack and also recover at the same time, being at min. CD of 8. Post-max amelioration, Ao Guang shines further now with a permanent CD reduction -2; CD of 6!

  • Leader Skill: Dragon Attack x 3; God Attack x 2.5
Like Qinglong, you almost never see him being played as the leader in a mono Water team.

  • Active Skill: Turn all Runestones into Water Runestones.
First ever board converter released. Fans of a Poseidon build will favour this card very much. Other than that, you do not really see him in play elsewhere.

  • Leader Skill: Full Attack x 3
Many will get confused when they see this sentence. To make this simple, full attack = connecting 5 or more runes. The x3 multiplier will apply to all members regardless of attribute so in another sense Yuanshi can be played as a rainbow team leader.

Whole board of Heart runes for recovery, if anyone needs it?

Cassandra, Cursed Prophet

This milady is a part of the Enchantress trios.
  • Active Skill: Recovery reduced to 0, adding 2.5x the original Recovery into Attack (the Skill stays in play until reactivation of the Skill or defeated)
Cassandra multiplies your card's recovery by 2.5x and shifts it to their attack stats. I say shift, not add because upon activation you lose the ability to heal no matter how many Heart runes are dissolved.

A 3x boost to self and adjacent members but only if they are of the Beast race, being Water element isn't even going to make the cut. Nay.

  • Leader Skill: Beast Attack x 2.5. Water Runestones also possess effect of all Attributive Runestones. Each Beast member would gives 10% bonus, to the max 50%
Leader skill that is more tailor made for a Beast team. Dissolving Water runes will elicit effect of all other attribute runes.

Reduced rune-spinning time bosses? Molly! You get my point don’t you? Certainly a utility card at its very best, often considered a staple in most mono Water teams. CD is only at 8 at max SLV which is very forgiving. Also, she also boosts water attack by 5%(which isn't much) but because of the extra 3 columns she's mostly used when one is going for a final blow due to the higher combo counts = higher damage.

Not going to make it the 'x' number of turns to kill the enemy? Urd. No Heart runes on board and on the brink of death? Urd. Yep, you get my point. No? Go !@#$%^!

  • Active Skill: Damage received -60% for 5 turns. The next damage received will not lead to your defeat upon activation
You will never die, never die, never die *100... for the 1st turn upon activation no matter how many damage/hits you received. How crazy is that? 60% damage reduction for 5 turns is already pretty sweet already so.. yes.

  • Leader Skill: When HP > 50%, the next Damage received will not lead to your defeat. The Damage relieved by this Skill will be dealt to the attacking enemies as a Water Counterattack (one activation each Round)

The latter is a nice touch but you wouldn't want to gamble your efforts on a 70% chance..? Especially for ultimate stages. However looking it at another point of view, 70% is not too low of a chance.

Goddess of Order, Giemsa

At long last, the long awaited Giemsa is now playable! How well will she fare? Let's find out!

  • Active Skill: Light and Dark Runestones also possess the effect of Runestones of the Monster's Attribute for 1 Round.
At first glance, the active skill is sorta meh given her reputation of the 7th seal boss, but it's not. Complements with her leader skill really well. As an added bonus, the min. CD is at 8.

  • Leader Skill: If the Team consists of only Gods and Demons, God Attack x 3 and Demon Attack x 2.5. Fire and Earth Runestones also possess 50% effects of Water Runestones (no superimposing)

How to invest your Harpies? [Image: 80?cb=20140622091426]

Just a quick elaboration for those who do not know anything about Harpy.
  • What is a harpy?
A card that grants a definite skill level up to any card upon fed.

It is one of the rarest card in-game and is extremely valuable where it cannot even be purchased with Diamond(s). Therefore, one must use Harpy(s) wisely and treat it as a king.. wait no.. queen.. no! Bird nest Tongue, because well you know..? They say the longer you keep bird nests the more valuable it is (actually just keep it till you find a card worthy of it). Asdfghjkl. Let's just move on, shall we?
  • Sources:
a) Gate to the Defile-Cryptids
b) Rewards given upon first time clearance of Ultimate(SM) stages, handful Extra stages(Memories Traveller)
c) Level up rewards
d) Drops from one-off stages.

Now, let's get the ball rolling.

To know if a card of yours is worthy of Harpy/ Harpy-worthy, some researching must be done. As for what to research, find out whether the card's active skill is being shared with any other card.

Special thanks to Tos Wikia for making our lives simple.

Step 1: Go to http://www.towerofsaviors.wikia.com.

Step 2: In the search function, type in the name of the card that you are finding.

e.g. I am searching for Qinglong the Prime King. His active skill is ' Offensive stance- Water'.

Step 3: Click on the hyperlink. You will then be greeted with ' Congratulations! You've won the top prize of this event and is entitled for any card of your wish'. Well, in your dreams Tongue. It's actually...

From the image above, you've identified that [Image: 40?cb=20140622085529] actually shares the same skill with Qinglong. The Gnome is also easily farmable so you can actually manually skill level Qinglong by feeding Gnome continuously. Therefore, bycommon sense it is definitely not worth it to feed Harpies to Qinglong.

I have seen many beginners who fed their precious Harpies away to all these easily skill levelled cards. Don't laugh, you might be one of them  Rolleyes .

FAQs
  • Crux, if the card that I've been wanting to feed Harpy with actually shares the same skill with another card does this mean that it's not worth it after all?
It's a yes and a no. It depends on if the other card is actually easily accesible/farmable. If not, then it's a yes. If it is (same case as Qinglong-Gnome), then it is probably not wise to do so.
  • So.. how do I know which is worthy and which is not? I'm confused demmit.
Good question. To make your already simple life- simpler, I've already included a list of recommendations below that will guide you. Notice how I emphasized the word guide? No? Okay. Guide. Hah!
That's because at the end of the day,it boils down to your own preference, how often you use the card, how crucial it is to be at a high SLV.  There's no right or wrong in this case.
  • What SLV is optimum to start feeding Harpy to a card?
9 would be best but I recommend 8 and always started feeding from 8. Reason because 8>9 is hell.

List of Cards Worthy of 'Bird Nest'

A very debatable topic, different people have their own different preferences. This is mine, so suck it up Tongue.

Offensive Converters (decreasing priority)

[Image: 60?cb=20140622092130][Image: 60?cb=20140717102438][Image: 60?cb=20150204101207][Image: 60?cb=20140622090222][Image: 60?cb=20140622114747][Image: 60?cb=20140622092612]

Pisces definitely triumphs the top spot. Close competition between Ao Guang and Siao-Syue but since Ao Guang received his update he is definitely better now. Yuan Shi(2nd from the right) isn't really recommended to spend Harpy on since he is practically a farmable one but should you want to, it's still okay.

Damage Multipliers/Boosters(no particular order)

[Image: 60?cb=20140622092228][Image: 60?cb=20140622091848][Image: 60?cb=20140717102441][Image: 60?cb=20141218160452][Image: 60?cb=20140622092120]

The choice is obvious here if you have them all. Pick one that you are likely to be using the most. Cassandra is actually a different type of damage multiplier here; acting as a permanent instead of one where it only lasts 1 or 2 turns so that should also be kept in mind.

Utilities(decreasing priority)

[Image: 60?cb=20140622092403][Image: 60?cb=20141124114121][Image: 60?cb=20140622092959]

Special cases

[Image: 60?cb=20140622093151][Image: 60?cb=20141219124243][Image: 60?cb=20141128030326][Image: 60?cb=20140622090558]

Special cases because at first glance, their active skill isn't really worth the Harpy. They are mostly leaders so one of the only reason for you to feed them with Harpy is to attract more people to use them as Ally/Adjutant.

Freyr- Only worth it if you have an Odin and to sync their CD ( very important) /ally max SLV Freyr is another way.

Elizabeth- Realistically, not worth it. But sometimes that 1.5x boost might actually be crucial. A very personal choice.

Tefnut- If you aim to top leaderboard with a Tefnut as lead team, then her CD definitely is best to be kept low.

Poseidon- To sync CD with Zeus/ ally max SLV Poseidon is another way. Also, to attract more friends to use you.

How to invest your souls?

This is more geared towards beginners as they are normally the ones who have limited amount of souls.

Top priority(s)

40% increased drop rate of Water runes beneath his column, which is crazy! Definitely a must ameliorate.

Fully converts the column beneath it, a very nice touch.

[Image: 50?cb=20140717102438]to amelioration IV.
A very game breaking amelioration which sees him rise into fame; permanent CD reduction of 2, now at a CD of 6 !

[Image: 50?cb=20140622115122]to amelioration IV.
25% increased drop rate of Heart runes beneath its column. On paper it is not very high but it definitely helps.

[Image: 50?cb=20140622093422]to amelioration IV.
25% increased drop rate of Water runes underneath him. Lower in percentage compared to Poseidon but definitely still gets the job done.

[Image: 50?cb=20140622092120]to amelioration IV.
An increase of 0.2x multiplier from 2.0x to 2.2x. If you are planning to use her as a damage multiplier in your team then it's a must ameliorate.

Somewhere-in-the-middle(lol)

[Image: 50?cb=20140622092403] to amelioration II
Initial CD reduction by 2 is a nice touch.

[Image: 40?cb=20140622092228] to amelioration II
Initial CD reduction by 2 is a nice touch.

[Image: 50?cb=20140622090447] to amelioration IV
Actually a column Heart converter. The downside is because of the mediocre stats.

[Image: 50?cb=20140622090222] to amelioration IV

[Image: 50?cb=20140622092612] to amelioration IV
Only worth the souls if you're a frequent Soulstone farmer.

Only for 'All Max' badge as display (least priority)

[Image: 50?cb=20140622092959][Image: 50?cb=20141124114121][Image: 50?cb=20140622092434][Image: 50?cb=20140622093151][Image: 50?cb=20140622091450]

Yes, the amelioration skill they received is nowhere as impressive in comparison the the ones above. So if you have too many excess souls feel free to splurge it on them.
